Sheepskin Rug Trade Program for Interior Designers
Wol Society makes timeless sheepskin rugs for interior designers who care about provenance, uniqueness, and craft. Composed in Belgium by artist Sabine Maes, they’re artisan-created European sheepskin rugs sold to U.S. customers. Every rug is a one-of-a-kind piece of artwork that’s also supremely functional, long-lasting, and easy to care for.
These pieces are exclusively available to design professionals through Wol Society’s sheepskin rug trade program, with the option to select ready-to-ship rugs or commission custom pieces.
Designers who gravitate to Sabine Maes are searching for pieces that stop them in their tracks. The pieces that will become their client’s favorite part of a finished room: a bit unexpected, a bit daring, and completely unique.
Often, designers are first drawn to Wol Society rugs because of their arresting beauty. Connecting with Sabine, feeling her boldness and warmth, and learning of her deep connection to the material and the story of each rug’s composition allows designers and customers alike to appreciate the uniqueness of her work.
Sabine established her fine-art studio in Belgium before expanding her practice to create functional wool art. She composes every rug by hand, using her artist’s eye to inform every step of her process: selecting, placing, and rearranging the pieces until the balance of textures and tones feels complete.
Each sheepskin rug is a unique work of art, adding layers of depth and texture to the room. Her work takes time, and her customers understand that it’s worth waiting for. They appreciate natural materials, authentic craftsmanship, and the beauty of slow design. Every finished piece is a one-of-a-kind artwork to be treasured, and made for real, lived-in homes.
Commissioning a custom project with Sabine is a warm, easy, collaborative process. Dozens of finished pieces are currently ready to ship from the United States, ideal for designers working on tight deadlines.

Typically, a designer elects to create a custom piece because they’ve spotted a Wol Society rug they love, but it doesn’t meet their specific size requirements. They reach out with measurements and we discuss inspiration photos and their vision for the color and character of the finished piece.
Once the designer agrees to the proposed design, they pay their invoice and we begin to work on the piece. We send photos of the composed rug for client approval before the pieces are sewn together.
-
Custom lead times are about 4 weeks, from the time the invoice is paid to when the rug is ready to ship.
-
No, there is no minimum order number or budget for custom rug commissions.
-
Because each hide is unique, we cannot send samples of materials.
-
Once the work begins on a custom piece, we’re unable to accommodate revision requests. If a customer wishes to swap out a finished rug for a different piece, we’re open to discussion. All shipping costs will be covered by the customer.
